The St. Louis STD/HIV Prevention Training Center is one of 10 regional centers funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The St. Louis Center offers continuing education courses for health care providers throughout Region VII of the U.S. Public Health Service (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska).
The Center is funded by a grant from the CDC to Washington University School of Medicine, Infectious Diseases Division.

Target Audience
Our target audience is health care professionals in public or private settings who provide clinical services to persons having or concerned about having sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses will find courses tailored for their level of expertise.
CME Accreditation
The St. Louis STD/HIV Prevention Training Center is accredited by the Missouri State Medical Association to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.
Leaders in the Field
The St. Louis STD/HIV Prevention Training Center is part of the prestigious Washington University School of Medicine. In conjunction with the St. Louis County Department of Health, our nationally recognized faculty provides health care professionals with the latest research and clinical information in the field of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
Courses are held on the campus of Washington University School of Medicine, with students spending part of their time participating in lectures and part receiving hands-on clinical and laboratory training. Clinical time is divided between STD clinics at the St. Louis County Department of Health, the Jefferson County Health Department and ConnectCare, or students may elect to schedule their clinical training in Omaha, Neb., or Kansas City, Kan., at a later date.
A Location Near You
During the Fall semester, courses are offered at the St. Louis STD/HIV Prevention Training Center, located on the Washington University School of Medicine campus.
Distance learning is offered during the Winter/Spring semester. Using high-speed fiber-optic links, the Center will provide the didactic portion of the training at various sites around the four-state region, based on interest and registrations. Lectures feature two-way audio and video contact, allowing for real time interaction between faculty and students. After completing the didactic portion, participants will be scheduled for integrated hands-on training at an STD clinic in their region. Infectious disease specialists and STD clinicians will supervise the clinical training rotations.
For participants who are not able to take daytime classes or who aren’t near a training site, select courses will be available as streaming internet video.
